Fun atmosphere for the whole family. Service was fast and friendly. Food was excellent! We tried the Bang Bang flatbread: great flavor and just the right amount of spicey; Liberty Bell: nice and cheesy.
While swimming at our hotel another family was telling us about this awesome pizza place we had to try. Oh my goodness... this pizza was freakin amazing. We ordered enough for us to bring some home but the family loved it so much there were no leftovers. We tried the pepperoni, the cheeser pleaser, crab rangoon, and Memphis Q.
Always a good time here, they have great pizza's and the service hasn't been bad yet. We've been going here since they opened and try to go at least once a month and try a new pizza. The pizza in the picture is the ragin cajun and it was probably the best one yet. Being from the Midwest, it didn't even need ranch! This is one of our favorite places to go in the lakes area. Highly recommend trying it out and be sure to get some planks!
We have been trying different places to eat throughout okoboji and Arnold's Park for the last few summers when we are up here. We wanted to try Portside on Saturday June 4th but it was so busy there was nowhere to sit so we went in for lunch on Sunday June 5th and honestly it was worth the wait. After trying to decide which pizza to try we settled on the Thai peanut pizza, the inferno pizza will be tried in July or August, and it was a very good pizza. The sauce and toppings were spot on and the peanut sauce drizzled on top was a perfect compliment. Our daughter got the kids cheese pizza and it was gooey cheese perfection. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive.
Great stop during the Winterfest!! Pizza was spot on, and the little gal we had as a server was so sweet! Not one employee walked by without checking on us-drinks were always filled, food was hot, and plenty of room to sit at the table w the food! It will definitely be a regular stop for us in the years to come dueing this adventure!
In the past I have given Portside pizza a 5 star review, that time the pizza was great. Atmosphere and company was fun. However this time our server disappeared. We watched our pizzas come up and sit in the window. Finally saw our server, she walked right on by one her phone and out the door. So we thought even with a possible shift change we would give a little grace. The kitchen staff (6 people) could see we could see our pizza sitting there. They called out a few times order up. The bartender and another server walked by, looked at it and walked by. We finally got their attention to get the pizzas. Nothing after that. No refills. No service. No box. No check. We watched 6 people in the kitchen stand around between making pizzas, some on their phones half the time. Servers (2) walk by, tables next to us get refills. When we finally asked for a manager, we were asked why. We explained and they indicated they fired the server and there was a manager next door. No apology, basically told since he didn't take our order that was why he had trouble coming up with a ticket. Only after we asked. I have worked in service all my life. It takes a lot to knock down my review this far. A simple, hey I'm taking over, we are busy but I'll take care of you would have went a long way, rather than being 100% ignored. I had family from out of state and was excited to bring them there and instead left disappointed. Pizza was good when we finally got it. Salads were not (side salads were mostly cheese and tomatoes, lettuce was scarce). Drinks ran out. Couldn't find manager next door but the guy we did talk to apologized.
Nice little spot to get some food when spending the day on the lakes. The pizza there is handmade, you can watch them throwing the dough in the kitchen which is entertaining. The food was really good, including the Greek salad and fried ravioli. Only drawback is the limited seating during the busy summer months.
I eat a lot of pizza and this was the worst I have had in a long time! There was no taste couldn't find the onions anywhere on pizza. My wife's pizza had sausage instead of mushrooms. Service was OK at best. Will not be going back again.
